PAG-ASA Public Weather Forecast - Tropical Depression "Ramon" (October 12, 2011)

At 5:00 p.m. today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAG-ASA) forecasts that  the Tropical Depression "Ramon" has maintained its strength and changed its direction to the Northwest as it approaches Mindoro Area. It was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 70 km Southwest of Romblon or 70 km East Southeast of San Jose, Occidental Mindoro (12.2°N, 121.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center . It is forecast to move Northwest at 15 kph.

Forecast:

The western section of Southern Luzon, Panay Island and Guimaras Island will experience rains with gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Bicol region, Central Luzon, and the rest of Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the East to Northeast will prevail over Northern and Central Luzon and coming from the Southwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be moderate to strong blowing from the Southwest to South with moderate to rough seas.

Residents in low lying and mountainous areas under Public Storm Warning Signals are alerted against possible     flashfloods, landslides.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 - 25 mm per hour (heavy) within the 400 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.

The public and the disaster coordinating councils concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 PM today.
